Ikuo Hirayama International Caravanserai of Culture exhibits works of the famous Japanese artist
Residents and guests of the capital had the opportunity to once again enjoy the masterpieces of art by Ikuo Hirayama, the globally recognized master of the brush, the outstanding scholar and researcher, Rector of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Goodwill Ambassador. The exposition presents more than three dozen of his best works made in Japanese painting styles of Nihonga and watercolors. The exhibits of paintings are supplemented by traditional Japanese fans painted by the hand of the master.
“The vernisage is dedicated to the 83rd anniversary of the birth of Ikuo Hirayama. He was the first foreign artist to be awarded the title ‘Foreign Member of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan’ and the golden medal of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan for outstanding achievements in strengthening of the Uzbek-Japanese relations,” said Farrukh Usmanov, Director of the International Caravanserai of Culture. “The pictures presented here are just a small part of his vast artistic heritage, the works based on his numerous trips to different countries, including Uzbekistan.”
“Having experienced the warmth and hospitality of the Uzbek people with all his heart, Ikuo Hirayama reflected that in his masterpieces very subtly. The harmony of watercolors on these canvases is just enchanting,” shares his impressions Aleksey Popov, an exhibition visitor.
As Ikuo Hirayama noted in his publications after repeated visits to Uzbekistan, this country is a historical and spiritual center of the Silk Road connecting East and West.
