An exhibition of woodcuts titled “The Masterpieces” opened in the Ikuo Hirayama International Caravan-serai of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, where were presented works of Medat Kagarov and Damir Urazaev.
Xylography or wood engraving requires a lot of skill and talent, enabling to create a very fine, delicate works. People's Artist of Uzbekistan Medat Kagarov was the acknowledged master of this genre. He created illustrations for the poetry collection of the classics of the East filled with a special philosophical vision, very lyrical. His works are preserved in many museums and private collections in Uzbekistan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Holland, Russia, USA, India and Japan.
Damir Urazaev also studied engraving. He is the author of miniatures to the collection of poems Zulfiya “Drop”. Works of Damir Urazaev acquired by museums and galleries of Uzbekistan, Russia, the Czech Republic and Poland.
